Part III begins.
If you read part II you may remember that I was still waiting on a promise. From God. A promise I had seen in scripture. A promise of full and complete healing.
If you have no clue what I needed healing from, go back and read Part I. Long story. Hard story.
So, let's fast forward to March of 2010. About 6 months into the illness. I had seen the Dr. who would eventually help me to my recovery. I was on the natural treatment. I was waiting. But I was still hurting. I was feeling a tad better. Just a TAD folks. But it was still horrible. My main physical complaints were right hand, elbow, feet and now and ankle had just started in. Remember those. They will become important in a moment. Right hand. Elbow. Feet. Ankle. Don't forget!
At the end of a bad week, I snuck away from the boys for just a moment to my room to cry. Because of the physical pain and because of the fear and frustration of what would really happen. And of that small little doubt that lingered...."what if the Rheumatologist were right and I would never get better!"
So I had been holding onto the previous promise from November described in Part II. Hezekiah. Fully healed. That had to be my story. But it wasn't yet.
I flipped it open again. Not that I hadn't flipped it open since November but just that this was another one of "those moments". I believe in Part II, I stated it was, "an earth-shattering, knock you out of your socks, leave you in total disbelief, confirmation of God's presence, total control and eventual fulfilled promise of healing."
It was. It really was.
Psalm 18. Check it out people. Check. It. Out.
All of my feelings at the moment you will find there, penned by David, the man after God's own heart, so many years ago. I won't go into all the details. Mainly, David called out to God in distress to be rescued. And God's response was pretty amazing.
So, in the beginning of the chapter and through the middle I was starting to feel a little better. Still not totally shocked.
Until I read this:
0 As for God, his way is perfect:
The LORD’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God besides the LORD?
And who is the Rock except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength
and keeps my way secure.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he causes me to stand on the heights.
34 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 You make your saving help my shield,
and your right hand sustains me;
your help has made me great.
36 You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way.
Wow! Wow,did you not just fall off your chair?!!! Are you not shocked right out of your socks like I was!!!?!! Is anyone else finding that to be totally CR-CR-CR-CRAZY!!!!!
Like....of all the places I could have randomly flipped to in the bible in that moment of deep despair...... I landed on a page that included just one full chapter.
Psalm 18.
Written by someone in deep despair, asking, begging God for help. And God's response is to burst out of heaven angry and ready to beat down the enemy of his faithful servant. And the description of the rescue happens to include
HANDS. FEET. A BENDING ARM (where does the arm bend people-the ELBOW). and ANKLES.
And what makes that even more amazing? He did it. By the end of summer. About 10 months it took from start to finish. But he did it. He fulfilled the promise and I was new again. Back to me.
But never quite the same for it.
I just have no other words.
Except this. JESUS SAVES. HE HEALS. RESTORES. REVEALS.
Check out this song from one of our favorites. Jeremy Camp.
