Bears

We took Leighton on his first camping trip this weekend. We did an overnight trip to test the waters with a baby. We had a cute little cabin so I was relieved not to have to worry about the bears ripping into my tent.........ha-there are no bears where we were but, I do tend to
worry about wild animals excessively.

Case and point: a couple of years ago, Derrick and I were on a nature hike in this same state park and saw a deer running across the field several hundred yards away. I totally freaked out and thought the deer was going to maul us!!! Good thing I had Derrick and Maverick to protect me!!!

Anyway, back to our trip: Derrick showed Leighton how to make a fire. Mommy showed Leighton how to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Leighton relaxed in a big boy camping chair. We all went for a hike to the top of a lookout hill. Saw a baby snapping turtle. Derrick picked it up. I yelled at him. (to BE CAREFUL of course). Enjoyed a great campfire under the stars. Relaxed.

It looks like you had fun. I still haven't done a test camping trip to see how we would do. I'm with you concerning getting mauled:)

You guys should try a camping trip! There's nothing like putting your baby/kiddos to bed and snuggling under the stars, next to a fire with your hubby! (of course, i did get a little nervous when i heard the restling of the grass next to our camp site-turns out, it was my hersheys wrapper!!!)
