Face-down

Three years ago today, Derrick and I were laying face-down on a table. We had very few clothes on. Come to think of it, I don’t think we had any clothes on. Settle down, it was totally innocent. It was a very special day. It was Friday August 26, 2005. One day before we would walk into God’s house and make our vow to love one another for the rest of our lives. We decided that both of us deserved a wonderful, relaxing massage to start the exciting event. It was a gift we wanted to give the other. Maybe for all the hard work that goes into planning a wedding. Maybe more appropriately, for all the hard work that goes into planning a marriage. We enjoyed every minute of it, let me tell you.

Today, I got a really good call. It was from my husband. Most calls from him are good but this one was REALLY good! We got the results back this morning and are we excited. Derrick passed the final part of his CPA exam and is now officially a CPA!!! I can’t tell you how proud of him I am. Derrick told me that the very first emotion he felt was relief. He put hours and hours (about 80) into this test. It was time that he put in after work and on weekends-during the super, fun, hot summer when everyone else was having fun! It was not easy for him to study this time around, especially since he would have much rather been with Leighton! Well, the hard work paid off and my husband is now a CPA! He also recently started a new job which means no more “busy season”, no more working late at night, no more working on the weekends. This test is like the icing on the cake!!! And we all know how I feel about cake and icing!

In closing, as I am writing this very post, my wonderful husband is once again laying face-down, naked on a massage table. I booked him an surprise massage immediately after I got the call and told him that he was to be at an “appointment” promptly after work. I am sure he is drifting away in the aroma of relaxation oils as I type. Way to go honey, you deserve every minute of it!
